Carlos Mata - Carballo Ofeltes & Toro Parteno
From upon Saturday the 17th of March you are most welcome to discover 2 beautiful sculptures by carlos Mata at Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus.
The work by Carlos Mata is inspired by Mediterranean culture, based on memories from his childhood. The horse and the bull are central in his iconography and the patina is provided with special colours of extraordinary beauty. These colours seem playful but guarantee an intense concept.
Carlos Mata - Biography
Carlos Mata was born in 1949 in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and died in July 2008. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona and Paris. He searched for the essence of forms and reduced them to pure lines. In a first confrontation with his work you will be surprised by the tenderness in his sculptures.
Mata shows in his sculptures both the creativity and the mysteriousness of prehistoric art: bulls, cows and stylized horses, which show the symbolic meaning of the animal.
